Base Salary
$247k - $396k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define technical vision for a domain, plan 18+ months ahead, and maintain end-to-end accountability for delivery, quality, and outcomes.
- Design and build production-ready systems while leading major architectural decisions involving scale, reliability, performance, and security.
- Establish engineering standards through implementations, code reviews, architecture reviews, and systemic risk reduction.
- Identify shared-system opportunities and create reusable technical patterns and foundations across teams.
- Coach and mentor Staff and Senior engineers through technical design, architecture, systems thinking, and knowledge sharing.
- Partner with engineering leadership on company-wide roadmaps, resource planning, and non-functional requirements.
- Assess candidates for senior technical roles, design interview plans, and make hiring recommendations.
Requirements
- 15+ years of industry experience with large-scale enterprise web or SaaS applications.
- 7+ years in senior individual contributor roles designing and building systems used by other engineers at scale.
- Demonstrated experience designing and shipping large-scale distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in at least one technology stack such as C#/.NET, Java, C++, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, asynchronous programming, concurrency, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including architecture, automation, and operational practices.
- Experience with relational, NoSQL, vector databases, and distributed persistence.
- Familiarity with AI/ML systems and LLM-based architectures, including orchestration, retrieval, and agentic patterns.
- Experience completing monolith-to-microservices or service-oriented migrations.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, RESTful services, and observability tooling such as Elasticsearch, Datadog, and Prometheus.
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Preferred qualifications include strong execution, communication, coaching, broad engineering knowledge, proactive risk management, and customer-focused technical judgment.
