Responsibilities
- Develop and improve the easybill Connect e-commerce application with Ruby on Rails.
- Own complete features and projects from technical design through implementation and stable operation.
- Build scalable backend solutions, robust interfaces, and performant processes for marketplace, shop, shipping, and e-commerce APIs.
- Contribute to frontend development with TypeScript and React when needed.
- Support data migrations, refactoring, and technical modernization with emphasis on stability, maintainability, and quality.
- Analyze errors systematically, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
- Use AI tools such as Claude Code in daily development to improve iteration speed, code review, understanding, and productivity.
- Contribute ideas, challenge existing solutions constructively, and help continuously improve engineering processes.
- Collaborate with product, UX, support, and other engineering teams as appropriate.
- Optionally contribute to adjacent areas such as UX, product management, or infrastructure.
Requirements
- Deep experience in software development and understanding of how modern web applications are reliably built, operated, and evolved.
- Very strong knowledge of at least one relevant backend stack, ideally Ruby on Rails, or the ability to learn it quickly and systematically.
- Product-oriented thinking covering code, processes, users, and sustainable long-term solutions.
- Independent, proactive working style with high quality standards.
- Experience structuring technical topics, preparing decisions, and advancing projects independently.
- Regular use of AI tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar solutions as part of the development workflow.
- Interest in trying and sensibly integrating new tools, working methods, and automation opportunities.
- Clear, dependable, and respectful communication.
- Fluent German and good English.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, e-commerce, marketplace or shipping APIs, invoicing, taxes or accounting, data migrations, refactoring, legacy modernization, infrastructure, scaling, performance, DevOps topics, or AI-assisted software development is advantageous but not required.
