Base Salary
$164k - $282k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end architectural design and implementation of a distributed workflow engine and durable execution platform
- Design for five to six nines of availability and address tail latency, edge cases, and distributed state management
- Build a scalable, fault-tolerant system that enables developers to write long-running reliable workflows as code
- Integrate AI/ML models for predictive scaling, automated bottleneck detection, intelligent error recovery, and self-healing capabilities
- Solve distributed locking, timer, deterministic execution, and massive-traffic scalability challenges
- Set architectural and high-performance coding standards while collaborating across the organization and influencing without authority
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, math, or a closely related field
- At least six years of backend software development experience
- Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework
- Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS
- Experience building and maintaining highly available distributed systems
- Preferred: 10 or more years of professional software development experience building backend infrastructure for global-scale traffic
- Preferred: experience managing systems with five to six nines of availability
- Preferred: deep expertise designing and deploying mission-critical databases, messaging queues, or orchestration engines
- Preferred: expert proficiency in Java and Python, including concurrency and memory management
- Preferred: experience or architectural expertise using AI/ML for system functionality and operational automation
- Preferred: familiarity with Temporal or Cadence programming models and underlying architecture
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes and containerization
- Preferred: experience with Cassandra and TiDB
- Preferred: contributions to major open-source distributed systems projects
- Preferred: expertise in distributed tracing and advanced telemetry
