Responsibilities
- Design and develop screensavers, wallpapers, trivia, featured experiences, and other Roku platform features.
- Build and iterate on proof-of-concept prototypes in a startup-minded environment.
- Adapt prototypes into production-ready and scalable implementations.
- Collaborate with UI/UX design, backend engineering, product management, and business leadership.
- Use AI, machine learning, and large language model technologies to develop platform capabilities.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues in commercially viable products.
- Contribute to API design decisions and evaluate technical trade-offs.
- Work across embedded UI, cloud development, content management, and cloud backend integration.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a software engineering environment.
- Demonstrated project work using AI/ML and LLM technologies.
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, React Native, Python, BrightScript, or related technologies.
- Experience working in an embedded environment.
- Experience productionizing solutions involving content management, UI development, cloud development, and cloud backend integration.
- Knowledge of operating-system concepts including memory management and multithreading.
- Experience with API design and understanding of related considerations and trade-offs.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Consumer electronics experience in media, content, or advertising product development is preferred.
