Responsibilities
- Support deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and expansion of Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform across development, UAT, and production environments.
- Assist with Kafka cluster provisioning, broker configuration, topic creation, partitioning, replication, retention, capacity management, high availability, disaster recovery, backup/restore, and multi-cluster replication.
- Support Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, Confluent Control Center, Kafka security configurations, and Java/Spring Boot producer and consumer integrations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot brokers, partitions, ISR, replication, consumer lag, throughput, latency, storage, connectivity, offsets, and application integrations.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, configuration management, release activities, production support, health checks, performance analysis, incident troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to onboard Kafka use cases and promote changes across environments.
- Maintain deployment procedures, configuration standards, troubleshooting guides, operational documentation, and runbooks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
- Minimum three years of relevant IT or software engineering experience with hands-on Apache Kafka or Confluent Platform exposure.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in development or production environments and knowledge of brokers, topics, partitions, replication, ISR, consumer groups, producers, consumers, offsets, retention, and delivery semantics.
- Experience with Kafka deployment, configuration, administration, monitoring, operational maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Linux, networking fundamentals, JVM concepts, and Kafka security including TLS/mTLS, SASL, ACLs, certificates, keystores, and truststores.
- Understanding of real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures.
- Preferred exposure to Kubernetes, OpenShift, Anthos, Helm, Docker, containerized Kafka deployments, Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, Confluent Control Center, and Kafka disaster recovery or replication.
- Preferred CI/CD and monitoring experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, or Confluent monitoring tools.
- Experience with Kafka in banking, telecom, financial services, or other mission-critical environments is preferred.
