Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver robust technical solutions for guest-facing and franchisee-facing digital features.
- Lead architecture and system-design decisions and create Architecture Decision Records.
- Contribute 50–70% hands-on production code across React, Node.js, and TypeScript-based systems.
- Improve performance and scalability for high-volume services and distributed systems.
- Advance engineering processes, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and developer experience.
- Conduct design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and improve code quality and engineering standards.
- Lead features from concept through deployment with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
- Implement observability and incident-triage practices using Datadog or similar tools.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Brand, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Modernize legacy systems toward cloud-native and distributed architectures.
- Champion unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership of complex technical initiatives.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Experience with GraphQL; Apollo Federation is preferred.
- Cloud expertise, preferably AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code; Terraform is preferred.
- Experience designing and operating distributed, high-traffic systems.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational database systems.
- Experience with CircleCI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and automation pipelines.
- Familiarity with Datadog, New Relic, or CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of TDD/BDD testing methodologies.
- Proven mentorship and technical leadership capabilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in QSR, retail, or consumer-facing digital businesses is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to work onsite five days per week in Jacksonville, Florida.
