Base Salary
$135k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded software for OS drivers, hardware interfaces, real-time data pipelines, inter-processor communication, error handling, and user or test applications.
- Collaborate with engineers, clinicians, product managers, and other stakeholders to address clinical needs and safety requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Translate early requirements into prototypes, evaluate and iterate designs, and integrate advanced functionality into complete surgical robotic platforms.
- Conduct unit testing and support system integration, verification, validation, product release, and reliable operation.
- Contribute to hazard and failure mode analysis and define appropriate risk mitigations.
- Produce compliant documentation and ensure designs meet Intuitive’s quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing and supporting embedded systems, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or 1 year with a PhD.
- High proficiency developing C/C++ embedded and real-time software for multi-core, multi-processor systems, particularly with embedded Linux and QNX.
- Experience with board bring-up, device-driver development, and integrating new hardware components.
- Experience with version control systems and collaborative development environments.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP, CAN, I2C, SPI, and protobuf serialization.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for complex embedded software and electromechanical systems.
- Understanding of failure-mode and risk analysis and experience with safety-critical, product-focused designs.
- Preferred qualifications include robotics and complex electromechanical systems experience, Python or Matlab, FPGA interfaces, CUDA, secure boot, authentication, encryption, regulated or mission-critical products, and design, implementation, debug, verification, validation, and manufacturing transfer.
