$302k - $336k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the overarching technical strategy and roadmap for AV Labs engineering initiatives.
- Define architectures for autonomy algorithms, data platforms, onboard and offboard systems, and infrastructure.
- Design systems that extract semantic meaning from urban edge cases and enrich the L4 data lake.
- Establish requirements for evaluation datasets, objective performance metrics, and data-mining engines.
- Lead technical projects from conception through production and influence architecture across multiple teams.
- Mentor senior, staff, and lead engineers and promote rigorous experimentation and engineering excellence.
- Coordinate integration between AV Labs and other Uber engineering organizations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of working experience in software engineering, robotics, or autonomous systems.
- Proven experience leading large-scale technical projects from conception to production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, C++, or similar languages in Linux environments.
- Preferred: PhD or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: extensive experience with C++, CUDA, and high-performance optimization for onboard systems or massive offline datasets.
- Preferred: deep understanding of autonomous system architectures, sensor-data pipelines, robot middleware such as ROS, and offline evaluation simulation.
- Preferred: experience building and scaling foundational architectures for physical-world interaction, large-scale data evaluation, or autonomy infrastructure.
- Preferred: recognized expertise demonstrated through patents, open-source contributions, or publications.
