Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Own software spanning Mission Command.
- Deliver well-architected systems with clear interfaces through code reviews, design reviews, and software engineering practices.
- Champion testability, portability, monitoring, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Develop software from problem definition and solution design through implementation and customer delivery.
- Collaborate across teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
- Triage issues, identify root causes, and coordinate next steps.
- Travel up to 10% of the time to collaborate with teammates and understand real-world operating conditions.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience working with a variety of programming languages.
- Experience quickly understanding and navigating complex systems and established codebases.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
- Experience designing APIs for distributed systems is preferred.
- Experience building modeling and simulation environments for distributed systems in non-standard networking conditions is preferred.
- Familiarity with NixOS, Terraform, AWS, Azure, software infrastructure, networking, security, and distributed systems is preferred.
- Deep understanding of computers and networks from desktop systems through multi-cluster cloud nodes is preferred.
- Professional software development lifecycle experience with version control and CI/CD systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and data management tools is preferred.
