Responsibilities
- Build data processing pipelines and services that power Apple Music customer features.
- Design scalable applications to model, ingest, compute, and serve large-scale mission-critical data.
- Develop and support Java- and/or Scala-based data systems and services.
- Build batch and near-real-time streaming pipelines using distributed messaging and compute components.
- Collaborate with engineering, research, product, and business teams to develop solutions for Apple Music customers.
- Troubleshoot and prevent performance issues involving distributed storage and network resources across hosts, clusters, and data centers.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable data systems and services in Java and/or Scala.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or greater, in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Experience with Spark, Kafka, and web services is preferred.
- Experience designing Java-based microservices with best practices and open-source libraries such as Dropwizard and Sprint.
- Experience with large-scale data processing technologies including Spark, Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, Flink, Hadoop, object stores, and AWS Lambda or similar technologies.
- Experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines with distributed messaging such as Kafka and batch or near-real-time streaming compute components.
- Knowledge of distributed storage and network resources at the host, cluster, and data-center levels.
- Experience with low-latency NoSQL data stores, including Cassandra and S3.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Gradle, Git, and related software lifecycle tools.
