Base Salary
$110k - $120k/yr
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, operate, and maintain the internal AI gateway and its model-provider connections.
- Integrate Microsoft Entra ID for single sign-on and role-based access, and manage virtual API key lifecycles.
- Own gateway availability, latency, capacity, upgrades, change management, and operational reliability.
- Implement routing, budgets, rate limits, hard stops, spend attribution, redaction, data loss prevention, and audit logging.
- Manage the intake, review, approval, provisioning, and register of internal AI use cases.
- Respond to gateway outages, provider degradation, authentication failures, rate-limit events, and runaway spend.
- Maintain runbooks and escalation paths, cross-train Corporate IT Operations, and conduct post-incident reviews.
- Deliver weekly platform updates, monthly attribution and utilization reporting, documentation, and data for adoption dashboards.
Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience operating a cloud production service relied upon by other teams, including on-call ownership; AWS or Azure experience is required.
- Hands-on production experience with Envoy, Kong, LiteLLM, Portkey, NGINX, or a similar API gateway, reverse proxy, or service mesh at the configuration and code level.
- Experience with OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML, role-based access control, and credential lifecycle management for human and service identities.
- Python or Go experience at the middleware level, plus infrastructure as code and containerized deployment experience.
- Experience with metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and producing operational telemetry.
- Experience making usage-based consumption spend attributable, forecastable, and enforceable.
- Ability to design processes, automate coordination workflows, document technical systems, and report to non-engineering stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes Microsoft Entra ID, large language model API behavior, token accounting, streaming, context limits, MCP, tool-calling architectures, data loss prevention or data classification, SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, SQL, or Snowflake.
