Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for major infrastructure systems and lead complex initiatives spanning multiple teams.
- Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms across compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, and infrastructure control planes.
- Improve scalability, capacity management, failure isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of production infrastructure.
- Build reusable infrastructure-as-code workflows and automation for provisioning, testing, rollout, reconciliation, rollback, and drift prevention.
- Develop safeguards against shared failure modes and reduce the risk of broad customer impact.
- Contribute to multi-account, multi-region, and isolated AWS architectures, including GovCloud environments.
- Participate in operational ownership and incident response and use incidents to drive architectural improvements.
- Mentor engineers, communicate architecture and trade-offs, and establish organization-wide infrastructure patterns.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems, including operating critical systems in production.
- Deep expertise in compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes.
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or a similar language.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on a major public cloud platform, with AWS preferred.
- Experience using infrastructure as code such as Terraform to manage production infrastructure safely.
- Strong understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery.
- Ability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams and ambiguous problem spaces.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, Kafka, OpenSearch, managed databases, caching, large-scale storage, internal infrastructure platforms, multi-region architectures, disaster recovery, infrastructure migrations, and developer self-service.
