$180k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop interoperability services connecting hospital EHR systems and on-premise components to Heartflow’s AWS cloud environment.
- Implement data modeling and scalable persistence strategies for complex clinical data.
- Build and maintain secure, scalable data acquisition and ingestion pipelines that extract and normalize patient data.
- Develop reliable, low-maintenance REST APIs using healthcare standards including FHIR and HL7.
- Ensure integrations and data flows follow FDA and other regulatory requirements, security standards, and software development best practices.
- Contribute to architecture and system design discussions while mentoring more junior engineers.
- Design testable systems and lead unit, functional, and system-level testing strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience architecting robust distributed, microservices, and event-driven systems at scale.
- Experience integrating with Electronic Health Record systems and using FHIR and HL7 healthcare data standards.
- Experience with data modeling, scalable persistence layers, secure REST APIs, and modern cloud ecosystems.
- Experience mentoring engineers, contributing to system design, and establishing rigorous software development and testing practices.
- Experience designing comprehensive testing strategies for mission-critical applications.
- Interest in Software as a Medical Device, FDA and HIPAA requirements, healthcare data acquisition, and resilient distributed systems.
