Base Salary
$172k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Prototype and implement scalable, performant software solutions for cross-border payment transactions.
- Design and deliver complex features within large-scale, regulated systems.
- Build and operate cloud-native, highly available distributed backend systems.
- Define clear, reusable API service contracts and integrations.
- Navigate and reduce technical debt while managing feature-level migration efforts.
- Own technical delivery for complex features and influence local and cross-team engineering decisions.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to engineers.
- Encourage engineering standards and collaborate with product, legal, and business development teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with a deep focus on backend systems.
- Deep hands-on experience building and operating modern, cloud-native, highly available distributed systems.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex features in large-scale, complex, regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems architectures, trade-offs, and payment transaction challenges.
- Excellent understanding of Java and its ecosystem, including threading and concurrency.
- Strong API design and integration skills, including REST and/or gRPC.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and ECS.
- Demonstrated technical ownership and ability to influence cross-team decisions.
- Preferred experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Candidates with Go, Kotlin, C#, Python, or Rust experience may be considered if they can learn JVM technologies quickly.
- Preferred experience with event-driven architecture and Kafka, SNS, or SQS.
