Responsibilities
- Develop a data and cloud migration framework for moving on-premises software assets to Snowflake and Azure.
- Assist with migrating databases, stored procedures, analytic scripts, and other software assets to cloud platforms.
- Develop new solutions and enhance, maintain, and improve existing software solutions and infrastructure.
- Establish and apply software and data engineering best practices for deployment and management on data and cloud platforms.
- Design, develop, test, document, and launch software and data engineering projects.
- Gather and validate requirements, track project status, estimate work, and communicate work-plan progress.
- Participate in code reviews, agile ceremonies, work planning, technology investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, managers, and capital-markets users to address user needs and deliver client solutions.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience with Python and SQL.
- Experience with Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, stored procedures, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure, AKS, Git, and Jenkins.
- Experience migrating data and data-engineering assets to cloud platforms, including databases, stored procedures, and Python analytic scripts.
- Experience engineering medium-to-large software systems and building frontend/backend applications at scale.
- Proficiency with relational databases and experience with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Delivery, Scrum, and Agile development environments.
- Financial-industry experience is required.
- Strong information-systems knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills, organization, communication, and English proficiency.
- Ability to communicate with systems professionals and capital-markets users with minimal IT background.
- Preferred experience includes C#, React, Flask, FastAPI, Django, Airflow or Astronomer, dbt, SSIS, Power BI, Azure web-application migration, and financial data providers such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and S&P Xpressfeed.
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course, CFA candidacy, and an undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline are assets.
