Responsibilities
- Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI, machine learning, and computer vision technologies.
- Design, develop, and integrate AI algorithms into Sherlock, Astrocyte, Sapera, and other industrial machine vision products.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize production-quality software primarily in C++ and Python.
- Implement automated unit tests, integration tests, and validation procedures.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and improve software components and AI models.
- Contribute to OCR, image analysis, machine learning, and inference pipelines for industrial inspection applications.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, product management, and application engineering teams.
- Apply source control, code reviews, testing, and other software engineering best practices.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly and validate their outputs through testing and technical review.
- Occasionally participate in industry, research, or technical events related to AI, machine vision, and industrial automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in artificial intelligence, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Good programming experience in Python and good software development experience in C++.
- Experience developing software on Windows and/or Linux platforms.
- Understanding of machine learning, deep learning, data science, and computer vision concepts.
- Experience with at least one AI framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Knowledge of debugging, source control, automated testing, code review, and other software development practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Professional proficiency in English; French is an asset for local collaboration.
- Preferred qualifications include industrial machine vision, imaging systems, OpenCV, ONNX Runtime, OCR, barcode reading, image processing, embedded systems, edge AI, GPU-accelerated inference, model optimization, Qt, CMake, Visual Studio, Git, industrial automation, commercial AI deployment, GitHub Copilot, 3D vision, point clouds, calibration, or metrology experience.
