Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize machine learning models and AI systems, translating research prototypes into scalable production-quality code.
- Design and execute controlled experiments to evaluate models, validate research hypotheses, and support data-driven decisions.
- Build and maintain AI pipelines for data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and inference at scale.
- Add logging, monitoring, and alerting to track model behavior, detect regressions, and support production reliability.
- Resolve performance bottlenecks in training and inference pipelines to improve latency, throughput, and computational efficiency.
- Collaborate with research scientists, product engineers, and data scientists to define requirements and deliver AI-powered features.
- Manage staged rollouts of AI model updates using feature flagging and incremental deployment frameworks.
- Document AI features, experimental findings, and system design decisions, and participate in code reviews.
Requirements
- Currently holds or is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a relevant technical field, or has equivalent practical experience; the degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- Experience implementing machine learning models or AI systems in Python using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience writing automated tests, debugging model or pipeline issues, and ensuring AI system reliability.
- Experience with data analysis and experimentation, including designing and interpreting A/B tests or model evaluation experiments.
- Experience building and maintaining production-quality code, participating in code reviews, and following software engineering practices.
- Experience owning AI or machine learning features end to end from technical design through deployment and monitoring.
- Preferred: experience with large-scale model training, distributed computing frameworks, or inference optimization such as quantization or distillation.
- Preferred: graduate degree related to machine learning, responsible AI experience, product-domain ML experience, or familiarity with ML infrastructure tooling such as experiment tracking, model registries, or feature stores.
