Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain complex production-grade front-end applications.
- Own front-end architecture decisions and establish scalable patterns, frameworks, and engineering practices.
- Create intuitive user experiences for complex logistics and operational data.
- Collaborate with product designers, backend engineers, and military subject matter experts to translate mission requirements into software.
- Build data-intensive interfaces, visualizations, and real-time user experiences.
- Integrate APIs, WebSocket-based services, and distributed backend systems.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering standards.
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, usability issues, and production incidents.
- Identify opportunities for front-end platform innovation, improved developer experience, and greater user impact.
Requirements
- Expertise in React or Angular, with one as a primary technology.
- Strong command of TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML.
- At least 4 years of experience, with 75% or more in pure front-end roles.
- Experience building significant, non-trivial front-end products rather than only maintaining existing codebases.
- Ability to own front-end architecture decisions and technical direction.
- A portfolio demonstrating independent, significant front-end work is preferred.
- Experience with data-intensive front ends and data visualization, such as D3.js, is preferred.
- Experience with mapping libraries such as Mapbox or MapLibre is preferred.
- WebSockets experience involving real-time, high-throughput user interfaces is preferred.
- Startup experience and experience building products from scratch are preferred.
