Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production-grade Terraform modules for cloud database platforms.
  • Define module interfaces, versioning approaches, and backward-compatible upgrade paths.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code automation and tooling for scaffolding, validation, linting, configuration generation, and integration utilities.
  • Develop clean, testable Python utilities to improve module correctness, developer workflows, and operational efficiency.
  • Apply Git-based engineering practices, code reviews, release management, and continuous integration and delivery for Terraform.
  • Integrate security, policy checks, and guardrails into module and pipeline workflows.
  • Create module documentation, examples, and adoption guidance for internal customers.
  • Partner with application, security, risk, and compliance teams to translate requirements into reusable patterns and exception workflows.
  • Improve the reliability and operability of database platform modules through testing and operational practices.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and expand module coverage and patterns into GCP.

Requirements

  • Advanced Terraform expertise building reusable, production-grade modules with clear inputs, outputs, documentation, and composability.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code engineering practices, Git workflows, code reviews, and automated validations.
  • Proficiency writing clean, testable Python automation and tooling.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including modular design, debugging, unit and integration testing, and secure coding.
  • Hands-on AWS platform experience focused on database services and patterns including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and graph databases.
  • Knowledge of networking and security fundamentals including VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing, KMS encryption, identity and access management, and secrets handling.
  • Exposure to GCP infrastructure-as-code patterns, Terraform provider usage, state, and core platform concepts.
  • Ability to design paved-road developer experiences with guardrails, sensible defaults, and clear examples.
  • Ability to collaborate with security, risk, compliance, and application teams.
  • Preferred: experience with Terraform testing and quality tooling such as Terratest, linting, scanning, pre-commit, and policy-as-code.
  • Preferred: familiarity with remote state, workspace or stack separation, drift detection, and migration strategies.
  • Preferred: experience building golden module frameworks with tagging or labels, naming conventions, lifecycle controls, and upgrade guidance.
  • Preferred: experience building CI/CD pipelines and publishing artifacts to internal registries.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: practical database operations knowledge including backup and restore, high availability and disaster recovery, performance tuning, patching, and maintenance windows.
  • Preferred: experience with Go for platform tooling.
