Responsibilities
- Drive the definition and evolution of architecture using Distributed Domain Driven Design practices
- Lead strategy for architecture quality attributes including availability, performance, scalability, and security
- Provide project-embedded architecture consultation on best practices, design patterns, and buy-versus-build decisions
- Prioritize platform capability improvements across feature and data platforms
- Improve the capture and communication of architecture descriptions through automation and tools
- Shepherd platform-wide naming, protocol, and design-pattern strategies
- Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with stakeholders to build consensus and alignment on architectural decisions
Requirements
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with high-volume distributed architectures where reliability and availability are critical
- Experience with Big Data technologies such as Elasticsearch, NoSQL stores, Kafka, columnar databases, Dataflow or pipeline systems, and graph data stores
- Experience with infrastructure services including enterprise message buses, configuration services, feature or toggle management systems, logging, and distributed tracing
- Experience with Domain Driven Design concepts including bounded contexts, event storming, and specification by example
- Experience designing, implementing, and operating data-intensive distributed systems
- Ability to design and communicate internal and external architectural perspectives using service-oriented architecture, Docker-based services, microservices, architecture and design patterns, and sequence diagrams
- Experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, and CodePipeline
- Knowledge of API and data model design and implementation, including scalability, high availability, and storage mapping
- Knowledge of multiple software stacks
- Experience designing and operating software in AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of algorithm development for intensive pipeline processing systems
- Understanding of secure software design and development
- Ability to identify, select, and extend commercial or open-source third-party components
- Experience designing, modifying, and operating multi-tenant systems is preferred
- Experience using feature or release toggles as a code branching strategy is preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
