Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable distributed system components for horizontal and vertical scaling.
- Optimize systems and data paths for large-scale data processing and high-throughput workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant, durable, highly available systems with redundancy, replication, failover, elasticity, and in-service upgrades.
- Implement approaches for network unreliability, including load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms.
- Design and execute correctness, availability, performance, load, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization testing.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and mentor peers.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure automation and change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
Requirements
- At least 11 years of software development experience, or a qualifying bachelor's degree with 7 years, master's degree with 5 years, or doctorate with 3 years of software development experience.
- At least 3 years of academic or professional experience with cloud platforms.
- At least 5 years of system-level testing and automation experience.
- At least 4 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis, automation, compliance, quality assurance, scripting languages, software test plans, code reviews, user experience development, embedded systems, software estimation, and agile methodologies.
- Preferred qualifications include the stated software development background and 1 year of experience with cloud platforms.
