Base Salary
$150k - $400k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale search infrastructure for real-time indexing, serving, and data pipelines under massive write and query loads.
- Investigate search internals including indexing, query execution, and relevance, and help shape the technical direction of core search infrastructure.
- Operate production services end to end, including monitoring, debugging, incident response, and performance optimization.
- Lead incident response and recovery with peers and contribute to incident postmortems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems, or experience with storage or hardware architecture.
- Proficiency in high-performance Rust, C++, or JVM-based languages.
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, or similar search and indexing technologies, including understanding their internals.
- Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, networking, or database storage engines.
- Ability to take full ownership of problems, learn quickly, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Contributions to open-source search or infrastructure projects are preferred.
