Lead Forward Deployed Engineering - Data Science & Integration

Responsibilities
- Lead forward-deployed technical engagements and deliver tailored data science and integration solutions for defense, intelligence, and aerospace customers.
- Design, build, and manage enterprise API integrations across REST, SOAP, and event-driven patterns using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform or equivalent tools.
- Design and deploy workflow automation and process orchestration solutions using Regrello or comparable platforms.
- Develop and deploy AI/ML models, data pipelines, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and LLM-augmented workflows.
- Own data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, feature engineering, integration strategy, and the full customer-site data lifecycle.
- Work with customer IT and security teams to support Authority to Operate and production go-lives in DoD IL5/IL6 environments.
- Partner with internal product and engineering teams to create reusable integration patterns, workflow templates, and data science capabilities.
- Lead rapid prototyping and MVP development with customers and translate mission priorities into technical roadmaps.
- Mentor junior Forward Deployed Engineers and present technical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience delivering hands-on, end-to-end production solutions, preferably in customer-facing or field-deployed settings.
- Strong background in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- Expert proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or SQL.
- Extensive experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions, including model development, MLOps pipelines, LLM integration, prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks.
- Expertise with enterprise integration and API-led connectivity platforms such as MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Dell Boomi, Apigee, or Azure API Management.
- Expertise with workflow orchestration and process automation platforms such as Regrello, Temporal, Prefect, or Apache Airflow.
- Strong data modeling, processing, and analytics experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Ability to lead technical engagements, mentor junior engineers, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and own delivery end-to-end.
- Ability to travel 50–75% of the time to customer sites, including classified facilities.
- Must be a U.S. citizen living on U.S. soil, must not hold dual citizenship, and must be eligible and willing to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include DoD, Intelligence Community, federal civilian, defense, aerospace, or military logistics experience; MuleSoft DataWeave and Runtime Fabric experience; Regrello experience; relevant platform certifications; event-driven architecture and streaming experience; and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
