Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy scalable applications for CLEAR’s identity platform.
- Own projects from technical discovery and architecture through implementation, rollout, adoption, and operational support.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data, Security, and Operations to develop scalable technical solutions.
- Design for failure modes, system dependencies, degradation strategies, recovery paths, and scale-related risks.
- Build test strategies, observability, alerting, safe rollouts, rollback plans, and ongoing system health monitoring into system designs.
- Drive technical direction, reusable standards, engineering best practices, architectural improvements, platform scalability, security, and maintainability across teams.
- Conduct code reviews and design reviews, communicate tradeoffs, build alignment, and provide constructive feedback.
- Mentor and develop engineers while identifying opportunities, influencing the roadmap, and driving improvements through completion.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of professional software engineering experience building production applications with technologies such as Python, React, and TypeScript.
- Strong technical fundamentals in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architecture.
- Experience building and operating cloud-native applications using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience owning complex cross-functional projects from conception through production.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to operate in ambiguous environments, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and independently drive work forward.
- Collaborative approach with an interest in mentoring, improving engineering practices, and delivering measurable customer and business impact.
