Base Salary

$143k - $304k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of reliable, scalable, and performant distributed software systems.
  • Build high-throughput platforms for content ingestion, processing, transformation, and delivery.
  • Design scalable APIs, data pipelines, and feature/signal stores connecting ML systems with product surfaces.
  • Write maintainable and testable code, participate in code reviews, and resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, stakeholders, and partner teams to define requirements, technical specifications, and implementations.
  • Drive live-site excellence through instrumentation, monitoring, capacity planning, incident response, and continuous reliability improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, including distributed systems or backend services experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with large-scale system architecture, design, development, testing, release, database design, API design, performance tuning, and telemetry analysis.
  • Ability to design complex distributed-systems workflows, gather partner requirements, identify dependencies, drive alignment, and lead implementation.
  • Strong programming, data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and learning skills.

Benefits

  • Employees living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft U.S. hub are expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
