Responsibilities
- Independently design, build, operate, monitor, and maintain secure, reliable, scalable, and well-tested backend software systems.
- Apply advanced architectural patterns and infrastructure best practices while ensuring post-deployment system health.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the product lifecycle from design through rollout.
- Identify and implement improvements to engineering workflows and team processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous learning and professional development.
- Work directly with merchants through immersions to understand their challenges and improve their work lives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and/or Go.
- Deep expertise designing, building, and maintaining distributed backend architectures and microservices.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, Redis, and message brokers or event-streaming systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Strong knowledge of API design, contract management, and service-to-service communication such as gRPC.
- Experience with system design, high-availability architecture, and large-scale performance optimization.
- Practical experience deploying and managing services on AWS, GCP, or Azure using CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
- Hands-on experience building generative AI applications or AI agent workflows with LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.
- Knowledge of RAG pipelines and vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, or pgvector.
- Ability to demonstrate ownership, continuous learning, and awareness of emerging backend patterns and AI technologies.
