Base Salary
$225k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy fraud detection and risk decisioning capabilities through feature engineering, model development, and productionization.
- Own the complete model lifecycle, including experimentation, evaluation, monitoring, retraining, and iteration.
- Define and improve fraud and risk metrics such as detection rate, false positive rate, chargeback rate, and dispute win rate.
- Analyze transaction and behavioral data to identify fraud signals and emerging attack patterns.
- Partner with Engineering, Product, and Operations to integrate fraud intelligence into payment flows and internal tooling.
- Integrate and orchestrate external fraud and risk partners and maximize the value of their platforms.
- Establish ML and data practices across the company and lead the first dedicated ML team.
- Shape Coinflow’s long-term fraud, risk, and ML roadmap.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in machine learning, applied data science, or production ML roles.
- Demonstrated experience building fraud models in payments, with direct acquiring-side exposure at an acquirer, payment service provider, or payment facilitator.
- Proven ability to take ML projects from proof of concept through fully deployed production systems.
- Deep familiarity with authorization fraud, card-not-present fraud, friendly fraud, chargeback patterns, and merchant risk.
- Strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and feature engineering on high-volume financial data.
- Preferred experience at an acquirer, ISO, PayFac, or payments infrastructure company.
- Preferred experience developing, managing, and scaling MLOps pipelines and monitoring systems, including retraining schedules and real-time performance metrics.
- Preferred experience scoping cloud compute for scalable ML workloads.
- Preferred familiarity with card network rules, dispute and chargeback workflows, and fraud liability frameworks.
- Preferred experience as an early or sole ML hire at a startup.
- Preferred exposure to real-time or near-real-time fraud scoring systems and stablecoin, crypto, or alternative payment rails.
