Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality iOS applications and frameworks using maintainable architectures and performant code.
  • Develop scalable, reliable, and secure backend services and APIs that support Apple Invites and iCloud products.
  • Create features for event creation, invitations, participant management, and event coordination.
  • Design and maintain persistence, synchronization, distributed-service, and data-processing capabilities.
  • Write unit, end-to-end, and other test coverage while improving existing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Apple and participate in code reviews.
  • Use generative AI tools and Apple Intelligence capabilities responsibly to accelerate development and improve code quality.

Requirements

  • Professional iOS application development experience with Swift and SwiftUI, or professional backend-service development experience with an object-oriented language such as Java, Go, or C++.
  • Strong depth in either iOS or backend engineering and working familiarity with the other area.
  • Working knowledge of the iOS SDK, including SwiftUI and UIKit, for iOS-focused candidates.
  • Familiarity with data persistence and synchronization using CloudKit, SwiftData, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with backend service communication through REST APIs and/or gRPC.
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL data stores and persistence trade-offs.
  • Experience writing unit and end-to-end tests and backfilling coverage for existing systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, collaboration, and code-quality skills.
  • Hands-on professional experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT.
  • Preferred qualifications include CoreData and CloudKit integration, development for iPad, Apple Watch, or Apple TV, RESTful API integration, additional programming languages, distributed cloud architectures, Docker and Kubernetes, caching, event-driven systems, CI/CD pipelines, Apache Spark, and Java frameworks such as Spring or Netty.
