Base Salary
$167k - $209k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable DBaaS control-plane and infrastructure systems.
- Translate customer and system requirements into technical architecture, designs, and workstreams.
- Improve service performance, resource utilization, fault tolerance, availability, and production resiliency.
- Build lifecycle capabilities including automated failover, continuous backups, point-in-time recovery, and maintenance workflows.
- Scale infrastructure for data-intensive, compute-heavy, high-concurrency, and AI-inference-adjacent workloads.
- Lead complex cross-team technical projects across DBaaS and adjacent platform organizations.
- Guide technical decisions through design reviews, code reviews, and design documentation.
- Mentor engineers and raise team standards for architecture and code quality.
- Establish observability, failover, and recovery practices; participate in on-call and apply incident learnings to platform improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or data-plane/control-plane infrastructure.
- Proven ability to diagnose and solve complex, high-concurrency engineering problems in production cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, failure modes, multi-region systems, and performance optimization in production Linux/cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL engine internals, including query performance, replication, and scaling is preferred.
- Experience scaling services for compute, memory, and networking demands of data-intensive or AI-inference-adjacent workloads is preferred.
- Experience driving complex cross-team technical projects, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical tradeoffs clearly.
- Ability to work independently from ambiguous problems through design, implementation, launch, and long-term operation.
