Responsibilities
- Perform cloud threat hunting and identify embedded threats.
- Review and analyze cloud logs for relevance and context.
- Lead cloud incident response activities and develop cloud incident response playbooks.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure visibility into cloud workloads.
- Onboard cloud logs to the SIEM and ensure appropriate events are logged.
- Develop and implement monitoring use cases for automated cloud-threat detection.
- Tune security tools to maximize blocking while minimizing false positives.
- Develop KPIs and metrics for monitoring the health of the cloud security function.
- Enable participation in USG threat-information-sharing initiatives.
- Assist with deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud-based SOC tools and technologies.
- Research technologies and lead proof-of-concept efforts.
Requirements
- Eight years of cybersecurity experience, including at least six years as a Cloud Security Engineer in an enterprise SOC environment.
- Demonstrated cloud threat-hunting experience across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments, including O365, SIEM, EDR, and other cloud applications.
- Experience leading incident response activities involving cloud-based tools and systems.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, and Google cloud providers, with a focus on AWS.
- Bachelor’s degree or additional relevant experience.
- Understanding of cybersecurity policies and mandates including EO 14028, M-21-31, and NSM-8.
- Advanced cloud security certifications are strongly preferred, such as AWS Security Specialty.
- CISSP, GCIH, and similar certifications are a plus.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
- Ability to work core business hours and occasional or limited on-call hours.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
