Responsibilities
- Build software that automates routine production database deployment and operation.
- Participate in regular on-call rotations and troubleshoot, diagnose, and remediate production stability and reliability issues.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and own follow-up actions.
- Analyze incidents, support tickets, and alerts to propose systemic improvements across the database fleet.
- Manage and execute large-scale database fleet migrations.
- Partner with customer-facing, database engineering, and infrastructure teams during incidents and database installations.
- Build resilient and highly available database systems.
- Improve documentation, metrics, monitors, troubleshooting tools, engineering standards, and operating procedures.
- Share expertise in production systems and provide feedback through code and design reviews.
Requirements
- Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field.
- Experience writing code in languages such as Java, Python, and Go through professional work or personal projects.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, AWS, GCP, Azure, and OpenShift.
- Experience with Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
- Solid foundation in Linux and distributed web services.
- Familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus.
- Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, adaptability, and ability to incorporate feedback.
