Responsibilities
- Design and ship production ML systems for document understanding, extraction, classification, matching, ranking, scoring, and recommendations.
- Contribute to Pennylane Copilot, Bookkeeping Autopilot, and Revision Autopilot experiences.
- Own the full lifecycle of ML solutions, from problem framing and data strategy through training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Use user corrections and production failures to improve datasets, models, and product behavior.
- Define quality metrics such as precision, recall, automation coverage, straight-through processing, human correction rate, latency, and cost.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and accounting experts to integrate ML into user workflows.
- Improve reusable ML components, experimentation, observability, data quality, and training and inference pipelines.
- Lead larger cross-team ML projects, shape the Embedded AI roadmap, and share ML engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience and strong Python skills.
- Hands-on experience building and operating machine learning systems at scale in production, beyond training models or running notebooks.
- Ability to frame ambiguous product problems, establish baselines, and select useful metrics.
- Strong experience in several areas including document AI, NLP, classification, ranking, recommendation, anomaly detection, deep learning, or generative AI.
- Strong focus on data quality, observability, failure modes, cost, maintainability, and model performance.
- Ability to combine technical, business, and product skills and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; French is not mandatory.
- Preferred experience in accounting, fintech, high-trust workflows, human-in-the-loop systems, active learning, user-correction feedback, multimodal models, generative models, or ML systems with strict latency, reliability, or cost constraints.
