Responsibilities

Implement well-defined features, user stories, bug fixes, and enhancements under senior engineer guidance.
Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic using County coding and accessibility standards.
Write documented code and perform unit and integration testing to validate functionality and reduce defects.
Participate in design reviews, pair programming, peer code reviews, sprint ceremonies, estimation, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve assigned defects, document solutions, and maintain traceability across development artifacts.
Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA analysts, operations, infrastructure, data, support, help desk, and release teams.
Communicate technical challenges, task status, estimates, blockers, and requirements clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
Contribute to technical documentation, system flow diagrams, user documentation, demos, and product walkthroughs.
Support digital transformation and modernization efforts for County services while following security policies and development standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a job-related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Three years of work-related software development experience.
Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
Knowledge of Git version control, software testing practices, APIs, databases, SQL, and frontend or backend frameworks.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Ability to solve problems, learn new technologies, communicate effectively, collaborate with teams, adapt to evolving environments, and deliver quality software.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or a similar cloud certification.
Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record, including submission of a 10-year driving history.
Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for required national fingerprint-based records checks for access to criminal justice databases.

Standard office environment with occasional travel to County sites and industry conferences.
