Base Salary
$167k - $291k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own backend services, REST/GraphQL APIs, and Kafka-based event-driven microservices end to end.
- Integrate microservices with ServiceNow platform applications.
- Own complex subsystems, make architectural decisions, and carry operational responsibility.
- Contribute to UI work using a modern component framework.
- Partner with TPMs and business stakeholders to shape requirements, explain trade-offs, and drive alignment.
- Use AI coding tools and agentic workflows as part of daily development with critical review and verification.
- Provide L3 support for internal business-critical systems.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and raise the quality of system design and software craftsmanship.
Requirements
- Approximately 8+ years of practical software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems end to end.
- Strong foundations in data structures, system design, REST/GraphQL, relational data modeling, and testing.
- Hands-on microservices experience, including event-driven architecture using Kafka or a similar technology.
- Working front-end skills with a modern component framework.
- Experience with CI/CD, containers, observability, and L3 incident or production support.
- Current hands-on fluency with agentic workflows, LLM integration, RAG, Knowledge Graph, MCP, or prompt engineering.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving quality through code review.
- Preferred experience with billing, contracts, quoting, or usage-based commercial systems.
- Preferred depth in Kafka/event-driven architecture or NoSQL data modeling such as Cosmos DB.
- ServiceNow Platform certification or development experience is preferred.
