Base Salary
$144k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive the development, testing, documentation, and production deployment of stable, scalable software.
- Lead end-to-end technical execution of complex sportsbook features and systems from ideation through deployment and refinement.
- Guide architecture, design alignment, technical strategy, and high-impact decisions across teams.
- Develop scalable backend systems supporting sportsbook market integration, risk management, tooling, and related customer experiences.
- Lead incident resolution during the on-call rotation and improve operational metrics, observability, testability, and documentation.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor and coach engineers at all levels.
- Partner with product, design, and other stakeholders to align technical decisions with business goals and long-term scalability.
- Identify and remove project roadblocks and lead planning and design discussions.
- Travel occasionally to Fanatics offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience building highly scalable, performant, and evolvable backend distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Java and Spring is required.
- Experience driving backend development best practices and mentoring engineers in coding, architecture, clean code, domain-driven design, and related patterns.
- Knowledge of observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing in distributed systems.
- Experience with Agile software delivery and driving process improvements across teams.
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams in large enterprise environments and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, Kafka, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
- Preferred background in sports, gaming, content delivery, startups, or high-growth environments.
- Ability to work across legacy and greenfield codebases, languages, and environments.
