Responsibilities
- Observe manufacturing workflows in person and translate operational needs into production software.
- Build and iterate factory applications from prototype through integration, testing, hardening, rollout, and adoption support.
- Develop operator-friendly interfaces that preserve traceability, auditability, permissions, and source-of-truth data integrity.
- Integrate ION or successor manufacturing platforms, TeamCenter, engineering documents, quality records, inventory, supplier data, and internal AI services.
- Build AI-enabled workflows for manufacturing procedures, inspection plans, material verification, job routing, as-built documentation, and operational decisions.
- Review, debug, and refine AI-generated code and workflows for maintainability, security, scalability, and safe manufacturing operation.
- Capture production data to support manufacturing execution, engineering optimization, digital twins, and future fleet-scale learning.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to reuse shared AI infrastructure and own meaningful factory software outcomes.
Requirements
- Strong engineering fundamentals, including data modeling, APIs, service boundaries, integration patterns, and permission models.
- Ability to write maintainable code and evaluate generated code for correctness, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ability to turn incomplete requirements, manual processes, and messy operational workflows into reliable working systems.
- Comfort working directly with machinists, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, inventory teams, operators, and other non-software stakeholders.
- Understanding of traceability, revision control, as-built records, material flow, inspection evidence, and operational handoffs.
- Experience using AI coding agents or agentic development workflows as part of daily engineering work.
- Demonstrated interest in AI through projects, experiments, evaluations, or sustained use of models and tools.
- Ability to work on-site in Austin, Texas and closely with manufacturing teams in person.
- Preferred: experience in manufacturing, industrial systems, aerospace, energy, nuclear, hardware, logistics, or other physical-world domains.
- Preferred: experience with MES, ERP, PLM, QMS, inventory, work-order, or factory execution systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with ION, TeamCenter, CAD/CAM, machine-shop workflows, inspection workflows, or as-built documentation.
- Preferred: experience in regulated, high-reliability, audit-sensitive, or compliance-sensitive environments.
- Preferred: background building internal tools, integrations, workflow software, operational systems, or software used by non-software teams in production.
