Responsibilities
- Develop Android Automotive OS platform features and customer-facing features for connected, embedded infotainment systems.
- Analyze and profile Android frameworks, system applications, and system services.
- Identify AOSP framework architectural and technical issues and improve Android framework stability and critical-state performance.
- Contribute to Android and company-owned frameworks, including interface reviews and implementation of infotainment solutions.
- Coordinate technical alignment with suppliers, technology partners, development partners, system engineers, and software experts.
- Create technical specifications and documentation, manage priorities and deliverables, track system issues, and report status to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior software developers on best practices and design patterns.
- Coordinate cross-team resources and project goals.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Expert knowledge of the Android Framework, AOSP platform architecture, and related build systems.
- Experience with Android architecture, including the Linux Kernel, Hardware Abstraction Layer, and Treble.
- At least 3 years of experience modifying Android framework components, system services, and the Android SDK.
- At least 5 years of experience with object-oriented design.
- Proficiency in C++, Java, or Kotlin.
- Working knowledge of Android Automotive OS, Google Services for Android, CDD, and compatibility test suites such as the Compatibility Test Suite.
- Experience with software lifecycle methodologies, agile development practices and tools, and cross-team resource management.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, planning, organization, teamwork, and mentoring skills.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or equivalent, leadership experience with small automotive software teams, Linux and Android performance-tooling expertise, and hands-on knowledge of automotive hypervisors.
