Base Salary
$170k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve Pangolin, a tree-native streaming analytical database handling terabytes of customer data daily.
- Work with internal customers, including the notebook/UI team, to define priorities, shape the roadmap, and deliver data exploration features.
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure team on deployment, reliability, and scale.
- Write design documents and contribute to the system’s long-term technical direction.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Rust and the ability to write safe, performant, idiomatic code.
- Deep systems programming fundamentals, including memory, concurrency, and performance.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
- Strong backend engineering experience, including work on or alongside database systems.
- Ability to work directly with internal customers, translate ambiguous requirements into priorities, and own delivery.
- Experience building, operating, or maintaining large-scale distributed backend systems is a bonus.
- Deep performance optimization experience is a bonus.
- Linux internals experience is a bonus.
- V8 experience is a bonus.
- AWS experience, including S3 and Lambda, is a bonus.
