Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Linux KVM hypervisor golden configurations, host build standards, kernel and performance tuning, and VM templates.
  • Manage hypervisor image builds, patching schedules, staged rollouts, updates, and rollback procedures.
  • Build and maintain automated bare-metal provisioning with network boot, unattended installation, per-host configuration, and local package repositories.
  • Build and operate Prometheus monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and centralized log collection for the hypervisor fleet.
  • Implement configuration management and drift detection across the fleet.
  • Maintain security baselines through CIS hardening, automated compliance scanning, vulnerability triage and patching, and centralized identity and access management.
  • Maintain continuous integration and testing for infrastructure code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of expert-level Linux administration experience, including production experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or its derivatives.
  • 5+ years of production experience operating Linux KVM/libvirt at fleet scale with performance-sensitive workloads.
  • 10+ years of experience building automated provisioning pipelines from bare metal to running workloads.
  • 5+ years of experience with CPU pinning and isolation, NUMA memory placement, and interrupt affinity for host performance tuning.
  • 5+ years of experience deploying and operating Prometheus and centralized logging.
  • 5+ years of experience patching production fleets across multiple sites with minimal service impact.
  • RHCE or RHCA certification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SR-IOV, PCI passthrough, userspace or kernel-bypass packet processing, immutable or API-managed host operating systems, and inventory/IPAM systems such as NetBox is preferred.
