Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and monitor platform features and shared infrastructure across US, EU, and GovCloud environments.
- Own services within the observability or data-infrastructure domains, including their reliability, performance, and evolution.
- Operate and improve Prometheus, Chronosphere, Grafana, and PagerDuty-based observability and alerting systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations, diagnose production incidents, and improve resilience through automation, runbooks, SLAs, and SLOs.
- Build platforms, APIs, developer tooling, dashboards, and pipeline capabilities that improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate internal customer needs into scalable platform capabilities.
- Write technical design documents, contribute to cross-team technical direction, review code, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of hands-on backend engineering experience designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and working proficiency in Golang.
- Experience processing data at scale and owning services from design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Experience with fault-tolerance patterns, incident response, on-call operations, unit testing, integration testing, and observability instrumentation.
- Ability to design for 10x growth, multi-region deployment, evolving requirements, and cross-team technical direction.
- Strong written and asynchronous communication skills in a distributed environment.
- Understanding of monitoring, alerting, observability principles, metrics, logs, dashboards, and SLIs/SLOs.
- Preferred experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Chronosphere, Datadog, New Relic, Honeycomb, PagerDuty, OpsGenie, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Django, gRPC, or protobuf.
- Experience leading a small team of 2-4 engineers and building internal developer platforms, tooling, CLIs, SDKs, self-service portals, or automation.
