Responsibilities
- Own technical strategy for a pillar and guide multiple squads toward scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Lead the architecture and hands-on development of complex, high-scale, distributed systems.
- Write production code, build proofs of concept, and solve complex engineering problems.
- Promote engineering consistency, maintainable code, security, performance, observability, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Mentor and coach Lead Engineers and squad engineers through guidance, design reviews, and technical direction.
- Help teams build observable, resilient systems and improve performance using DataDog and related tools.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Senior Product Directors, Delivery Managers, and Engineering Managers.
- Support infrastructure and deployment using GitHub Actions, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS.
- Explore ways to embed AI into engineering processes.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, JavaScript, AWS, Kubernetes, GraphQL, and containerized applications.
- Proven experience designing large, distributed, data-driven cloud systems.
- Previous experience running an engineering team or squad.
- Strong architecture and problem-solving skills, including designing scalable, high-throughput systems integrated with complex ecosystems.
- Experience with Jest, Pact, Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions, and DataDog or similar observability tools.
- Ability to write high-quality maintainable code and apply SOLID principles pragmatically.
- Experience mentoring engineers at all levels, reviewing designs, and providing technical direction.
