Base Salary

$160k - $240k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop autonomy behaviors and high-performance software modules for satellites, missile defense applications, and coordinated space-vehicle missions.
  • Apply distributed optimization, task allocation, resource scheduling, weapons target assignment, motion planning, tactical behavior management, and information-aware planning.
  • Research and prototype new algorithms, identify capability gaps, and contribute to autonomy roadmaps.
  • Integrate autonomy capabilities onto real space vehicles and support deployment, mission-log analysis, testing, and validation.
  • Collaborate with perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and flight-test teams to integrate autonomy solutions.
  • Support customer programs, integration events, demonstrations, and flight or operational activities.
  • Travel approximately 10–15% of the year to office locations, customer sites, and flight integration events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years with a master’s degree, or 2 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and familiarity with real-time operating systems.
  • Significant experience in control systems, motion planning, optimization, tactical behaviors, distributed decision-making, or related robotics areas.
  • Significant experience with unmanned-system technologies and associated algorithms, ideally in the space domain.
  • Experience using simulation tools and environments such as AFSIM or NGTS for testing and validation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance or higher.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience across multiple aerospace domains, classical control, optimization, applied machine learning or reinforcement learning, collaborative behaviors, swarm robotics, DoD or government programs, and live integration or exercise support.
