Responsibilities
- Design, operate, and improve reliable and scalable infrastructure supporting Autonomous Database Serverless.
- Administer and optimize high-availability Oracle RAC and ASM database environments, including service health, performance, capacity, and reliability.
- Manage the Exadata lifecycle, including upgrades, storage expansion, quarterly patching/QFSDP activities, and maintenance across Exadata generations.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across Exadata hardware, databases, networks, and operating-system layers.
- Perform incident response, root-cause analysis, post-mortems, on-call support, and service reliability improvements.
- Use SQL tuning, Smart Scans, Storage Indexes, and Hybrid Columnar Compression to improve database performance and resource efficiency.
- Develop automation with Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible for provisioning, database operations, monitoring, remediation, and maintenance.
- Partner with software development and cross-functional teams on infrastructure changes, capacity, deployments, reliability risks, and operational impact.
- Support health and performance reporting, capacity management, infrastructure prototyping, and onboarding of new operational tooling.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on production experience with Oracle RAC and ASM.
- Hands-on experience managing and optimizing Oracle databases on Exadata physical infrastructure.
- Experience with Exadata infrastructure upgrades, patching, and end-to-end lifecycle management across multiple generations.
- Practical experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot across Exadata and operating-system layers.
- Experience with production incident response, technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, post-mortems, and on-call support.
- Experience managing capacity, health, and performance for database and infrastructure services.
- Experience developing operational automation using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
- Experience with Oracle database performance tuning, including SQL tuning and Exadata features such as Smart Scans, Storage Indexes, and Hybrid Columnar Compression.
- Experience supporting highly available database or infrastructure environments and collaborating with software development teams.
- Preferred experience supporting Autonomous Database Serverless and working across Oracle 9i, 10g, 11gR1/R2, 12c, 18c, and 19c.
- Preferred experience with Exadata Cloud Service, CellCLI, DCLI, Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, Exadata storage cells, compute nodes, and InfiniBand/RDMA networking.
- Preferred experience with DevOps practices and tooling beyond scripting and automation requirements.
