Base Salary
$155k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve a multi-threaded, Linux-based, real-time Java platform handling high-throughput event flows.
- Lead analysis, design, architecture, and delivery for complex cross-team initiatives.
- Design, tune, and operate large sharded MongoDB clusters and develop expertise in their performance and operational behavior.
- Become a technical expert in the platform’s cashflow calculator and validate numerical correctness of its outputs.
- Strengthen test automation and deployment practices while helping mature CI/CD capabilities.
- Provide L3 support for North America, including leading difficult incidents and ambiguous production problems.
- Make architectural decisions, provide technical direction, mentor less experienced engineers, and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Amp, and Deep Search while maintaining technical oversight of delivered code.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with Java, server-side programming, and concurrent or multi-threaded programming.
- Experience with Spring Boot, Core Spring, and JUnit.
- Strong understanding of message-based architectures, including Kafka and/or IBM MQ.
- Strong relational database skills, with Sybase and/or DB2 preferred, and proficiency writing complex SQL.
- Experience with Unix/Linux scripting using Shell and/or Python.
- Track record of owning full software development lifecycle delivery and solving complex, ambiguous problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaboration skills, and technical judgment.
- Interest in learning the Equity Derivatives business and the financial calculations supported by the platform.
- Experience operating or tuning large-scale sharded MongoDB clusters is preferred.
- Comfort with financial calculations, numerical correctness, Equity Derivatives business knowledge, and AI-assisted development tools are desired.
