Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable shared systems, customer-facing platform components, and internal libraries used by multiple engineering teams.
- Partner with product engineering teams to understand needs and translate them into well-documented APIs and services.
- Drive technical decisions and influence architecture across team boundaries.
- Define and maintain engineering standards for shared components, including consistency, performance, and security.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning.
- Write thorough documentation that enables engineers across the organization to use and contribute to shared systems and libraries.
- Contribute to Vanta’s engineering culture as the company scales.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend or full-stack software engineering experience focused on platform, shared infrastructure, or developer-facing systems.
- Experience building shared APIs, services, or platform components used by multiple engineering teams.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or message queue systems such as Kafka, SQS, or pub/sub.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical trade-offs across engineering, product, and design.
- A track record of shipping maintainable, high-quality code and making sound architectural decisions.
- Willingness to use AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
