Base Salary

$99k - $207k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of embedded software for RF communications systems while meeting performance, interface, and radiation constraints.
  • Support board bring-up, low-level driver development, and integration with FPGA logic and DSP blocks.
  • Design, configure, and optimize embedded Linux solutions on ARM and SoC platforms.
  • Collaborate with RF and systems teams on radio architectures, interface control documents, and system requirements.
  • Design for reliability, resiliency, safety, and secure operation in space environments.
  • Engineer secure boot, cryptographic key management, and robust firmware update mechanisms.
  • Establish or contribute to CI/CD for embedded targets and support static analysis and unit/integration testing.
  • Mentor engineers, conduct design and code reviews, provide technical coaching, and author architecture documentation.
  • Collaborate with program management and customers to define milestones, reduce schedule risk, and deliver production-quality mission software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in embedded software.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded targets.
  • Strong knowledge of memory models, concurrency, synchronization, interrupts, cache/NUMA effects, and DMA.
  • Experience with an RTOS and/or embedded Linux on ARM and SoC platforms, including bootloaders, device trees, BSPs, and kernel or driver development.
  • Understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, RS-422, PCIe, AXI, Ethernet, GPIO, and DMA.
  • Experience with PCB designs, schematic reviews, and debugging mixed hardware/software issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with RF, FPGA, systems, and test teams and manage multiple efforts concurrently.
  • Familiarity with agile development using Atlassian tools and with producing ICDs and design documentation.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 10+ years of embedded software experience, satellite communications exposure, CCSDS, RF lab equipment, SDR, Rust, Python, Protobuf, Xilinx/AMD toolchains, secure boot, TPM, cryptographic techniques, radiation-reliability design, and technical leadership.
