Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, triage, diagnosis, and resolution of deployed imaging systems.
- Handle first- and second-line escalations from support channels and customer-support operations.
- Create and maintain runbooks, diagnostics, and self-service tooling to reduce recurring issues.
- Reproduce, document, and hand off genuine software defects to Mission Software Engineers.
- Use field observations to improve observability, upgrade safety, failure handling, and system supportability.
- Participate in a structured on-call rotation with scheduled after-hours and weekend coverage.
- Provide field support and deployment assistance requiring approximately 15% travel.
Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, field/systems engineering, or production support for deployed hardware/software systems.
- Demonstrate strong Linux fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot IP, routing, VPN, and connectivity issues in constrained or field environments.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions without complete system visibility.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical operators during remote troubleshooting and document incidents clearly.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Experience supporting fielded or deployed systems is preferred.
- Experience with fielded EO/IR, optical, or similar sensor systems and sensor calibration is preferred.
- Experience scripting diagnostic and automation tools with Python, Bash, or similar is preferred.
- Familiarity with Nix or NixOS, systemd service management, Linux observability practices, and PagerDuty or equivalent incident tooling is preferred.
