Senior Full Stack Engineer
MattermostResponsibilities
- Architect and build scalable, high-performance full-stack features across Go, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Redis
- Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor for scaffolding, refactoring, code review, and test generation while retaining accountability for correctness, security, and design
- Develop internal tooling, testing infrastructure, agentic workflows, and skills that improve team delivery and AI-tool effectiveness
- Own testing strategy across shipped frontend and backend code
- Design and consume REST and WebSocket APIs using solid networking fundamentals
- Maintain security and compliance standards for government and enterprise customers
- Contribute to Mattermost’s open-source codebase
- Drive adoption of agentic engineering practices and deepen ownership of distributed systems and high-availability architecture
Requirements
- Strong full-stack development experience in Go and React, or a comparable stack
- Experience designing and consuming REST and WebSocket APIs with solid networking fundamentals
- Relational database experience including PostgreSQL, schema design, and query optimization
- Daily fluency directing AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot for scaffolding, refactoring, code review, and test generation
- Ability to ship and own complex software end-to-end without close supervision
- Experience with distributed systems or high-availability service architecture is preferred
- Familiarity with enterprise or regulated-environment security requirements is preferred
- Experience in defense, intelligence, or critical infrastructure products is preferred
- Open-source contributions are preferred
- Experience working on distributed or remote-first teams is preferred
- Experience building tools, skills, or workflows on top of AI coding agents, including MCP servers, agent skills, or CI-integrated agents, is preferred
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship
- Candidates may need to obtain and maintain a government security clearance or equivalent designation depending on customer engagement
