Responsibilities
- Identify application security vulnerabilities and work with development teams to remediate weaknesses.
- Lead risk assessments and contribute to threat modeling to determine appropriate security controls.
- Research and evaluate application security tools, technologies, processes, and standards.
- Recommend enhancements to application security policies and procedures.
- Research and facilitate security training for application development staff.
- Participate on software development project teams as an application security advisor.
- Recommend IT security improvements for software development projects.
- Gather and develop metrics to support application security process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT Security, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in software development, application security, and/or IT operations, including a minimum of 1 year in application security.
- Understanding of server-side and client-side security issues.
- Understanding of common OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and secure coding techniques.
- Preferred CSSLP or Security+ certification.
- Preferred familiarity with application security maturity models such as OWASP SAMM or BSIMM.
- Preferred experience working with Waterfall and Agile development teams.
- Preferred experience evaluating API and microservices security controls.
