Responsibilities
- Design and develop Python-based microservices, CLIs, APIs, and automation tooling, with Java and Go where appropriate.
- Build compute infrastructure services for provisioning, orchestration, scheduling, capacity management, and lifecycle automation across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Create and maintain Concord workflows for CI/CD, approvals, environment orchestration, and operational runbooks.
- Manage, monitor, automate, troubleshoot, and support Unix and Linux operating systems and Nutanix and VMware virtualization environments.
- Author Ansible roles and playbooks and Puppet code for configuration, patching, and service deployment.
- Drive Git branching, code review, pull request, semantic versioning, and release-tagging practices.
- Build pipelines, observability, alerts, dashboards, and SLOs and contribute to incident response and postmortems.
- Design database schemas, write migration scripts, optimize queries, and manage backup, restore, replication, and failover operations.
- Implement security and compliance practices including secrets management, least privilege, image hardening, SBOMs, vulnerability scanning, and policy-as-code.
- Create architecture documentation, runbooks, and user guides; mentor peers and enable service consumers.
- Provide occasional on-call support in a follow-the-sun model and collaborate with platform, SRE, security, and product teams.
Requirements
- BE/B-Tech or equivalent, or a bachelor's degree with four years of software engineering experience, or six years of software engineering experience.
- The position summary requests 10–15 years of relevant experience.
- Expert Python development skills and intermediate Golang and Java programming skills.
- Strong Git and CI/CD tool experience.
- SME-level experience with Linux operating systems and experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Experience with Ansible and Puppet configuration management.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies including VMware and Nutanix and of clustered or distributed systems.
- Understanding of REST APIs, AI models, database operations, dashboard and UI development, and service-level objectives.
- Strong leadership, team enablement, innovation, and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to participate in follow-the-sun on-call support.
- Preferred: master's degree in a relevant field and two years of software engineering experience.
